Ask the APP: Why Do We Do Ashtanga Every Day?

For Change to Happen, You Have To Be Consistent-No matter what you undertake in life, consistency is the only way for it to take hold.

Barometer For Your Life-when the yoga is done every day, you quickly start to see imbalances in your life because you can compare it against how you felt when you previously did the yoga. Check out this pose on the APP, Kurmasana Saved My Life, where a reader found out she had breast cancer by noticing the difference in Kurmasana. Most yogis change to a healthy diet, get plenty of rest, drink less and spend time with supportive and positive people because they noticed how these details made a positive difference in their practice that radiated out into their life.

Fast Results-Whether you are trying to change mental habits or master a pose, when you do it every day, the change happens quickly.

Ashtanga Poses Are Not Like Riding a Bicycle-There are many poses in Ashtanga that require consistent practice to keep them in your repertoire. It is not every day that you throw your leg behind your head. So if you are not consistent with certain poses, you will lose your ability to do them. triangle741

Ease –The more consistent you are, the more ease you have in your practice. The more ease you have, the more you enjoy your practice. When you have ease, it is easier to focus on the breath, bandhas and more meditative aspects of the practice.

Flow-A huge part of Ashtanga is the flow and moving with the breath. When you develop ease in your practice, you can follow the Vinyasa counts more accurately and increase energy flow through the body and purify and harness your energy better.

Fitness– Ashtanga, with a good diet, ┬ácan make you fit. Doing it 6 days a week will help you achieve this.

Discipline and Dedication-Practicing every day, even when you don’t want to, takes tremendous discipline. When you have discipline in your practice, it transfers into your life and you are better able to achieve your goals and build the life you want.

Calmness and Clarity-the practice brings about a sense of calmness and clarity which is something most people want in their lives every day

It Feels Good-If may be unpleasant during, but when it is done, the body feels awesome
