Ask the APP: Can I Lose Weight With Ashtanga Only?

I am no doctor or nutritionist but the basic  rule for weight lose is: Burn More Calories Than You Consume. So technically, no, activity alone is never enough because it always depends on what you are consuming.  While Ashtanga is not just physical, if you want to up the calories burned, below are some options. backbend758

Ways To Maximize Calories Burned In Ashtanga

Do more sun salutes-Go beyond 10

Stay true to the vinyasa count with no fluffing-when you follow the correct vinyasa, you work harder

Take a guided class-traditional guided classes force you to stay with the breath count. Do these in addition to your Mysore practice.

If you have a short practice, do it more than once-If you have not yet completed Primary series  and you are stopping  before Navasana, consider going through a second time.

If you are in second series and beyond, consider doing more then one series-normally when you get to a certain point in the intermediate and advanced series, you start dropping poses from the previous series until eventually you are just doing the new series. Consider not dropping it off and doing both.
