Name translation:

Purvo-East. Referring to the front of the body. Uttana-intense stretch(Light on Yoga by BKS Iyengar)

Benefits of the pose:

Strengthens core, abs,quads, wrists, ankles

Opens shoulders

Counter pose to forward folds
